The ultimate marching orders for every believer do not originate from a human institution or a strategic committee. They come straight from the lips of the resurrected King, Jesus Christ. This divine directive—traditionally called the Great Commission—is more than a suggestion; it is the fundamental purpose of the Church on earth.
Our core directive is simple yet cosmic in scope: Go, preach the Gospel, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.
To understand the full depth of this call, we look to the two definitive anchor passages delivered by Christ before His ascension: Matthew 28:18-21 and Mark 16:15-18.
The Anchor Texts
Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV)
“ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
Mark 16:15-18 (NKJV)
“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.’”
Analysis of the Mandate
When we look at these anchor texts together, the Holy Spirit reveals a complete blueprint for Kingdom expansion. We can break this blueprint down into four distinct pillars:

Why “The Kingdom is at Hand” Changes Everything
When Jesus began His earthly ministry, His opening proclamation was, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). When He sent out the disciples in the Great Commission, that reality reached its tipping point.
Saying the Kingdom is “at hand” means that God’s sovereign rule, His power, and His presence are no longer locked away or reserved for a distant future. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Kingdom has broken into our world.
When you go out to preach the Gospel, you are not just sharing a religious philosophy. You are announcing a relocation program: inviting people to move out of the kingdom of darkness and into the Kingdom of God’s beloved Son (Colossians 1:13).
The Method of the Commission
How do we practically fulfill this on a daily basis? Christ laid out a very specific sequence of actions that every believer and local church should follow.
1.Go Into All the World:The Initiative.
Break past your comfort zone. Whether it is your local neighborhood, your workplace, or a foreign mission field, the Gospel requires active movement toward those who do not know Him.
2.Preach the Gospel:The Message.
Proclaim the raw truths of Christ: His sinless life, His substitutionary death on the cross, His resurrection, and His coming return, the Freedom His death and resurrection brought for believers . Boldly share salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone .
3.Baptize Believers:The Covenant Commitment.
Bring new converts into the public, covenant fellowship of the body of Christ. Baptism serves as an outward sign of an inward death to self and resurrection to new life.
4.Teach and Disciple: The Maturation.
True ministry doesn’t stop at the altar call. Invest time in teaching new believers how to study the Word, pray, walk in holiness, and observe everything Christ commanded.
Expect the Supernatural
Mark’s account makes it clear that the Gospel is a message of power. Jesus explicitly stated that specific signs would follow those who believe.
If we want to see the signs, we have to fulfil the condition: we must go out evangelising. Signs don’t follow those who sit still; they follow those who step out in faith. When we preach the Kingdom, God provides the supernatural backing to break chains, heal sick bodies, and liberate minds from demonic oppression.
